Hi All...

I still need some help here.

Thanks to a few list members, I have collected more info on these
unusual plastic Soviet tank silhouette cards, and want to find out if
anyone on the list has used these in their military training and might
have more information.

It seems that these plastic placards were issued and used by the US
military, and are actually targets that go into some sort of an indoor
target simulator training range system for tank gunner crews.

Apparently, it was used to train crew served weapons teams with TOW
missiles and other anti-tank systems without using expensive
ammunition.

These plastic tank cards were placed into the system, and the tank
gunner crew would practice recognition, and shooting enemy tanks with
a simulated anti-tank weapon that actually fired .22 caliber rounds at
these plastic cards. They would also practice range and distance
recognition and target direction from the size and position of the
silhouettes.

One person mentioned the system was called the Invatron, but a search
on the web did not yield anything.

I'm utterly baffled on this item and cannot find a shred of
substantiation (like a web site or TM) that shows information about
the system. I searched through MILDOCS.COM and found a lot of target
simulator systems but nothing that shows these targets.

Any information from you is really appreciated!
