         If I were you I would check the oil pressure with a mechanical
gauge, any truck repair shop should have one they use to verify the
accuracy of the dash mounted gauge. You may have good oil pressure now due
to the fact your engine is still running BUT if you lose oil pressure and
can't tell due to a defective gauge think of the downtime and trouble to
swap out the formerly good but for a reliable oil pressure gauge engine.
I'd rather if it were me swap out a gauge any day.

         the minimum oil pressure for the old two stroke Detroit engines is
3 PSI.
