Well folks heres a "qualified" professional feedback. I say Qualified
because we are talking about an engine I have no experience with other than
beating mine senseless. But .... I have 20 plus years proffessional
competition engine building experience and have pretty much been there, done
that, broke it, etc.

10psi per 100 doesnt take into consideration bearing clearances set
purposely on high limit. We ofter run as little as 8lb at idle in the 304"
stuff and as high as 100lb on the Hemi Super Stock stuff.

We have done (in conjunction with a major i.e. one the big four Winston Cup
teams) extensive testing with synthetics and what it all came down to was a
VERY slight increase in HP and a verifiable decrease in wear but ONLY with
TWO mfrs. oil ............ drum roll.............. Royal Purple and Mobil
One. The worst for bearing wear and in particular deposits, was the one that
starts with an A. nuff said.

One of my customers is a retired diesel mech. and he has told me over and
over..... 15w40 Rotella or any Diesel rated if you want to change it often.

I came up with a set of oil heater pads that we use on the race engine to
carefully build oil temp and found a set that fits my 1D perfectly.......
that will make the engine live longer than many pressure differences OR mfr
diffs.

all my .02 cents..... oh and my m35 runs 19 psi idle hot and 39 at cruise
hot. but I think the gauge isnt perfectly accurate.
