...and this is the crux of the stupidity that --must-- be corrected.

All the items on that show (and in the Grainger catalog) are -THINGS-.
Very, very few things are bad in and of themselves. The whole message was
that we must control the -THINGS-.

The stupidity is that not once did they talk about dealing with the PEOPLE
that can / might / maybe use those perfectly legitimate and useful things
for bad purposes. It's the gun control mentality all over again -- because
a bad guy might use a useful thing for a nefarious purpose, then we must
keep the thing away from everyone.

The political problem is that things don't vote (no California jokes, now)
so as a politician you offend much smaller groups when you legislate against
things and you can point to that legislation and say "see, we addressed the
problem". We will not begin to truly solve the problem until we go after
the bad people and not the things.
