So was a ' bridge ' truck a 5 ton? I just tried a google search using
'bridge truck US Army' then added 'photo' to it... TONS of stuff about
Korean war and some about Vietnam, but no photos of anything like the unit
in this thread. Is the front end of this truck a M81x series?

And if it was a bridge truck and much wider than usual, how could a local
FD use it on the roads? Even the largest rigs I've seen still adhere to
the 8' wide rule ( I think. They fire water canons at those who try to
sneak up with a tape measure at stop lights )
