As I recall, the configuration with the spacer is correct for the 60A
alternator. I think that the other configuration is for the 100A
alternator, with different lower ear spacing and/or different belt
offset. I could be mistaken, though, because it's been a couple years
since I had to mess with my M998's alternator. My truck originally had
the 100A alternator, but I replaced it with the 60A alternator when my
100A unit died, and I found out how much a rebuilt 100A alternator
costs.

Now that I'm planning to convert my truck into a shelter carrier, I
may end up switching back to a 100A alternator, anyway.
