The military installed ether start kit shoots a premeasured shot into the engine of 6,7,or 8 cc's (can't remember for sure). As far as drying the cylinders is concerned the procedure is to begin cranking the engine first, then push the ether activation switch to the right which loads the tiny ???cc holding tank, hold it for a moment, then let it go. The ether is released into the tube and into the air intake. This is not for engines w/ active glow plugs. It works well.
