1. Anyone can take the carriers MC number and got to
http://www.safersys.org/. This tells a lot of information about a
carrier such as insurance companies and physical address. Mine is
467421 you can look at it.

2. A trucker is different from a carrier, most anybody with a good
relationship with a bank and a good heart can buy a truck and drive it
down the road, a carrier has his information on file with the USDOT, has
at least $75,000 vehicle insurance and $5,000 cargo insurance. The cargo
insurance also pays on the "cleanup" of the wreck site. Most carriers
have $100,000 in cargo insurance. A lot of owner operators own the
truck but operate under a lease to another company and operate under
their authority.

3. A certificate of insurance does not mean that you will be notified of
a insurance cancellation. The only people who are notified of a
cancellation is the policy holder, the USDOT, and any lean holders or
anyone that has equipment such as trucks or trailers leased to the
policy holder. I send out my certificates of insurance daily and the
recipient's name is nowhere on it I just send a copy of mine.

4. If you have doubt about the insurance call the insurance company,
they will probably tell you if the policy is in effect.

5. Finally, the purpose of a broker is to do the paperwork for the
trucker, keep 1/4 of the money and hold the rest and operate on it for
at least 30 days and a lot of the time they keep all of it.
