FYI This what the state of Georgia does. When I send in the SF 97 I will
receive the title by mail then in a couple of weeks I'll get another letter
from the Georgia Department of Revenue stating that "The Georgia Sales and
Use Tax of 1951, as amended, imposes a Sales or Use Taxes on motor vehicles
purchased at retail in another state and subsequently brought into Georgia
for use. CREDIT (My Caps) for taxes is allowed for like taxes paid provided
such state reciprocates with Georgia. Proof of payment is required in order
to receive credit.

ARTICLE 48-8-30 of the Georgia Revenue code, as amended, imposes a tax on
all tangible personal property purchased at retail outside this state upon
the first instance of use, consumption, distribution, or storage within this
state. ( mobile homes, auto, trucks, tractors, trailers and all other motor
vehicles titled in Georgia)

Then you fill out a form showing what you paid for your item plus all fees
and taxes, multiplied that by your county of registration rate of tax, then
subtract credit for any "like" taxes paid, to determine the amount of tax
due. Then send them a check for the difference.

Then when I go to the local tag office I pay them for the tag. Remember!
This is for Georgia your state may not be the same. Wayne
