With my M51 gasser, I only use low range when fully loaded ie about 45,000
lbs gross, and I'm going off road. Other than that, I keep it in high
range all of the time. Drive it like you would a really big pickup truck,
nothing happens very fast, go slow. I don't double clutch ever. However
you are probably always going to want to start in 1st gear with that truck
due to the weight.

I always do a walk around. Start the truck, make sure the brake is set,
and walk around again, check the brake fluid, etc, bang on all of the
tires, let the engine warm up. In fact I check the brake fluid every time
I take it out.

Have fun.
