I had one that roared like there was no tomorrow. After doing all the
checks and crap, I found out it was because the nuts holding the air cleaner
cover were loose, and the resulting resonating roaring drone sounded louder
than I would've believed possible. It's even worse if the rubber gasket
between the air cleaner and intake manifold is missing. Just a suggestion.
I couldn't believe the difference when I finally sorted it out.
