LED Composite lamps

More on this. I received a fax today of the
engineering drawings of the Rear Composite lights
that Truck-Lite makes. In this case it was of
07240 (green thin lamp) and 07411 (rear thin lamp
with Bucket). The "thin lamp" is basically a
replacement front blackout composite unit that
has the marker and turn/brake light lenses
integral with the metal and LED units. Even the
wire harness is attached to it. It does look as
if the old body assembly could be used if the
wiring were removed and the new Lens assembly
were placed over the old bucket.

The units operate on 10-30 volts DC and have 5
connector boots coming out of the back. The run a
ground lead w/ boot and the kit with the bucket
has a lead from that boot to run to a ground
point on the chassis (rather than grounding
through the bucket). The unit as a whole doesn't
even draw an amp of power at 12 volts let alone
24 if all lamps are lit up. The housings are
apparently die cast aluminum (vs the plastic that
I spoke of before).

I'll definitely see about getting a set of the
rear lamps once I get the 5 Ton home and I can
start going through the fiddly bits. I'll report
what I find.
