M35 Winch and Turn Signals

So yesterday I went to use the winch to pull out a stuck tractor...
(keep in mind anyone who saw my video of being stuck... my winch support
plates were broken from a previous adventure) and I managed to have the
cable 'hop' the edge of the spool and get down inside the winch. Come
to find out, the broken plates are all that holds the winch together!!
I spent the entire day fixing it, including making replacement plates.
Its all back together now, but I have a couple questions...

Is there supposed to be a rod that connects the two sides across the
bottom?

Where can I find a new spool brake, mine is missing all the brake
material...

Has anyone made/found a roller fairlead that works on the M35 winch?

Also as I was going to finish winching that tractor out today, my turn
signals just stopped working. Everything else seems ok, just the turn
signals...

Any ideas where I should look first? Common problems?

Mike
