German halftracks (Sd Kfz 251 and 250 types) used this type of
steering with a braking of the appropriate side of tracks. It was
more complex but did allow for better steering.

However, one question for the US halftracks and their steering would
lie in how the Kegresse suspension bogey is biased (center biased
perhaps?). If it is center biased, then there would be a low point of
pressure where it would tend to pivot on in turns.
