Sorry to throw this out to a public forum, but it was in this forum that I I read your note concerning Mr. Charles Talbert's article in Military Vehicles Magazine.
If you recall our conversation when you called the office of Military Vehicles Magazine about the article, your "letter to the editor" would arrive too late to make it into the current issue of Military Vehicles (which is at the press as I type). As I told you when we spoke, your letter will appear in the October 2004 issue. I sorta take "light offense" to your implication that "the editor neglected to allow me a rebuttal". :) (reminds me of a Simpson episode in which Homer is asked if he would like to present his "rebuttal". "DO I!" exclaims Homer as he turns around drops his trousers and bends over...)
Like anything involved with publishing, its all a matter of timing. I am sorry that the magazine is published only six times a year...some times different points of view take a long time to appear in print (especially if someone takes there time formulating a response). There is no great conspiracy here...It just takes time. It does perplex me, though, if you felt so negatively about Mr. Talbert's article that you would voice it on the list. Believe me, if folks hadn't paid any attention to the article or its assertions, they will now!! Nothing draws attention to a bruise like asking, "Whattya think of my bruise?"
To be honest, I received exactly two comments about Mr. Talbert's article. One from you and one from another business person who wanted to (tactfully and professionally) redirect attention to his company's long-standing history of putting Cummins engines in 2.5- and 5-ton vehicles. That letter will also appear in the October issue of MVM.
Thanks for the bandwidth, and my apologies to everyone who has to slog through this sorta of email looking for dialogue about MVs (I know how frustrated I get when I have to read yet another email about "Why don't they use the "right" vehicles in a movie?" I just want to scream, "IT'S A MOVIE....IT ISN'T Reality! Guess what...the bullets they are firing aren't "real" either!" Oh well, now I really am digressing....)

Rebuild? He states that the system is no good, citing unsubstantiated
"evidence". He and the editor neglected to allow me a rebuttal. Thery also
failed to mention that TACOM has purchased 10,000 of them and that they
carry an NSN.
When I asked him to soften his criticism in a letter to the editor, he
rebuffed my request, notwithstanding the fact that he has purchased them
from me in the past, and the fact that I have sent many customers his way.
I will now do everything possible to send them to someone else.
Don't hold your breath, on the jackshaft disconnect, is my advice.
