Robert and list,
I couldn't stand it any more, so I did a map search on Mapquest.
Now I've really confused myself.

Seems we didn't camp at Townsend but outside of Wabeno, Wis. Now I'm not
sure if the tank is / was in Townsend or just north of there, in Wabeno.
Townsend is on hwy 32. Wabeno is on hwy 52 just west of 32 and 52
intersection.( Soberton ). Only a few miles farther on. One of the
towns had a logging museum and I think the tank was in that town. I
really hope you find it. It was the only military hardware in the area
back then. You might try calling the town hall, Chamber of Commerce,
etc. before driving all that way.
