Ah well, another of my childhood memories, once the subject of sonnet and
song, dashed upon the rock of chemical revelation. C Cl 4 was the liquid of
choice (not counting gin) in my house when I was a wee lad. It was used to
clean any soiled spot on any material. Its efficacy was so reknowned that
we even occasionally used it to remove grease and other slime from our
dainty paws. It probably accounts for my current list of ailments, not the
least of which is folliculus irrationalus, or the syndrome of no hair on the
top of the head, but plenty coming out the ears.
