Surely there must be a way to drill through the
manifold for the thermocouple without the danger of getting metal
particles into the turbo.. ?
YES there is , run the drill slowly coating it with thick grease to hold the
swarf , and /or magnetise the bit .
Although having the probe in the gas flow will give fast response times , I
feel sure that clamping to the turbo housing with a ceramic fibre pad would
give adequate warning of impending doom !
