RE: [MV] M35A2 Tranny Input shaft seal

Sonny and group,

Another question about a deuce tranny: Mine slings some oil from the rear
seal/shaft - it's mostly a pain because it gets up into the floor cover
plate seams, etc. The bearing seems fine, has zero play so I assume its
just the rear tranny seal that's shot. I have the oil level up to the fill
plug (nothing leaks out the front). Now if it happens to be the rear tranny
seal, can I change it without dropping the tranny? If so, what should I
order other than the seal itself? Tips appreciated, I'm a new guy on the MV
block. BTW, just changed my transfer case on my own, so I guess I've been
indoctrinated by fire!

Nick,

If its like mine it has no front seal and oil is NOT supposed to get out the
front unless the gearbox is overfull. It should be at least an inch BELOW
plug level when cold but I keep mine about two inches. The input shaft
cover has a rifle in it right? Thats what keeps the oil from coming out
unless you had it overfull.

Sonny
