600w is what was in mine also when it came from the military. I got a
replacement at auto zone. Any brand will work.

Subject: [MV] M-1009 Block Heater
Importance: High

         Hi esteemed List,

I need a new block heater for my 6.2 Diesel M-1009. It presently
has a Kats 600 watt heater installed which is not working. It has a plastic
cover with a 5/16ths stud sticking through it and I don't know if this
holds the block heater in the block or just covers the electrical
connections. I have been unable to find Kats online as when I input
www.Kats.com I get a blasted porn website. I belive the factory original
block heater was 100 watts and while it is small by todays standards it
will keep my engine warm on very cold nights. If the cover is just
protection for the electrical connections I will then remove it and test
the element. I was at a shop last night when looking into this and didn't
want to be stranded if it let the coolant out without a replacement.

Any and all help will be appreciated.

Jim
