I'm working on that with a new law here for
Georgia. Specifically to exclude any truck
(ex-military or otherwise) that's used for
non-commercial purposes. Own a '50 Mack Semi
Tractor? Drive it to shows and use it
occasionally for your own purposes that doesn't
involve a business? Then it's non-commercial and
doesn't require a CDL to operate. That's already
the case with the Federal Law, Georgia, just
doesn't make enough of a distinction yet.
However, use a 5 ton for well drilling in a
business? Well, then you're Commercial and have
to comply with what ever CDL rules may apply to
your type of industry or truck (Farming and
logging have some exceptions).
