As they explained existing radios were not available in quintiles great
enough to supply the need, it was some over a year ago that this took place

Thats probably because they wanted them, which is alright, but not becausse
they needed them. I've been in more convoys than I want to remember in both
peacetime and wartime and we never needed them.
