I change my own on my CCKWs. They have an even older type wheel
that does not have a split in the ring. You stretch it to get it on/off.

When inflating, I put the tire down, ring up and give it some small amount
of air, 5-10 lbs while tapping the ring to make sure it is seated. I then
mount the wheel on the outside with the ring in and inflate the tire the
rest
of the way. I now wear hearing protection as the ring cannot hit me but
the sound would probably deafen me if it went off...

I have probably done 40-50 of these wheels with no problems.

As the trucking industry goes more and more to the tubeless tires, there
will be fewer and fewer people/places that will do our wheels or worse,
know what they are doing!

Steve AKA Dr Deuce

PS: I have a Bear truck tire changing machine and that makes ALL the
difference. If it cannot get an old tire away from the rim, it will proceed
to
take the tire apart!
