Dear Listers,

Here's the outline of a mystery which I'd like to solve. Please DO let me
have any suggestions, ideas AND speculation which may help.

A few weeks ago, I received details of an M825 Recoilless Rifle Carrier Mutt
which was purchased recently in Cambodia. It is currently in Pnomh Penh. The
dataplate details indicate that the mutt was from a 1976-dated contract, so it
would have been delivered during 1977. So far, so good. I also have details of
another M825 mutt, also a 1976-dated contract, with a serial number quite
close to this one, and also located in Cambodia.

>From the proximity of the two serial numbers, it could be that these two
M825s were part of a batch delivered.....but to who??? and when???

It could not have been to Cambodia's Lon Nol government, because Phnom Penh
was over-run by the Khmer Rouge by April 75, well before these trucks were
built.
Likewise with the South Vietnamese, as Saigon went under, later that same
year.

Thailand forces (who had M825s) were in a state of almost constant war with
the Khmer Rouge, from 1975 through to 1979, and again with the
Vietnamese-installed Cambodian government which followed the ousting of Pol Pot and co.

The US was hostile to both Cambodian governments up until a few years ago.

So the mystery is...."Where did these mutts come from? And when?".

Your answers will be gratefully received (-:

Many thanks in advance, and I'd also like to take this opportunity of wishing
everyone a great Xmas and a happy, peaceful New Year.

Kind regards....
Ken
