Heading for the scales

Wasn't able to schedule a tractor trailer for the delivery of my log cabin
kit this week, so I'll have to make several trips with the deuce (the
customer is ok with this).

Thanks to all that gave advise on this list and further checking outlined
the requirements for interstate trucking. All 3-axle trucks must stop at the
scales, period.

I got a DOT# (quick procedure on the internet
dotnumberregistration(dot)com). Needed to increase the insurance liability
to $750,000, so my insurance policy now costs about $1,100/year.
Changed the DMV registration card. It had several errors, which I wasn't
worried about before, such as "gas" instead of diesel, 2-axles instead of 3.
Cost an extra $50.00...
I have a log book, but just blank inserts, should be fine for just a few
trips.
Got my name on the doors (cardboard and duct tape). Stenciled the dot number
in black below the doors. Magnetic signs would be nice.
I don't have a "medical card".
I think that's all.

The round trip to Asheville, NC is about 400 miles and I'll be leaving in an
hour or so. The weather looks great, should be in the 50's later today.

Report later.

Happy Holidays,
