Military Vehicle Trail Ride!!!
Join the fun on Sunday, January 9, 2005!!!

WHERE: Batsto Village, Route 542. Actual meeting place is west of the park in an open area under the pine trees. Do not go into the main park entrance! We have met here before and found it a great place to be able to park our trailers and not get locked out of the park.

To search for directions, go to Mapquest and type in Batsto Village.

WHEN: Meet between 9am-10am, hitting the trails at 10am

TRAIL COURSE: The course will resemble previous rides through the Pine Barrens, providing an educational experience mixed with some off road fun. Some highlights will be a visit to Apple Pie Hill, an abandoned brick factory, Hampton Furnace, and any other places of interest.

***If you know of any places you want to see, feel free to suggest them. This course is not written in stone.

TRAIL DIFFICULTY: Easy to Moderate, any 4x4 vehicle is welcome to join the ride! For those of you who want to test your vechicles, we can make side trips to various open pits.

LENGTH OF TRIP: About 5 hours, depending on vehicle breakdowns or other side trips.

LUNCH: We recommend you bring snacks and a lunch. In previous rides, we have stopped for lunch at the Hedger House but a large group is a little too much for them to handle.

COMMUNICATION: If you have hand held, cb, or military radios, feel free to bring them.

VEHICLE REQUIREMENTS:
Valid Registration
Valid Insurance

VEHICLE RESTRICTIONS:
NO vehicles over five tons, GVW. This means no deuce and a halfs! Some of the trails have old wooden bridges that cannot support the weight. Also, there are many low hanging branches that will tear your canvas tops.

Please note that park rangers are always in the forests and on previous rides, they have checked for up to date information. THEY CAN AND WILL ISSUE TICKETS!!!

If you have any questions, feel free to email me.

Thanks and looking forward to seeing everyone!

p.s.: I am bringing my fire department car and obviously will not take it on the trails. I will need to be a passenger in someone's vehicle. Any takers?
