I just bought belts for my M1009 project a couple of weeks ago. My residue trucks didn’t come with any alternator belts and only had one good alternator out of 4. I bought my belts at NAPA and used:

left #7585
right #7480

These had the NAPA Premium XL belt 25 above the number. They are made by Gates. I tried the 7575 and thought it was too short. It would probably have gone on if I had forced it. The 7585 is almost too long, but it pulled tight with about 1/4 inch more adjustment left. The NAPA guy told me they didn't make one in between.

I meant to post the numbers right after I worked on the truck but I couldn't seem to get all of my info in one place. I looked up the belts in the TM and got the NSN number for them. I then used MilDocs to get the characteristics for the numbers. This gave the length and width. I then took these numbers to NAPA were I found out they didn't have an exact match. I got the closest thing he had. For the right side it was real close and might have been forced on but I took it back and got one a little longer. For the left side it wasn't even close. It was way too long and was a different width also. I went back and got one the same width as the right and after trial and error settled on the 7585. I haven't run it enough to see if it is going to stretch beyond the little bit of adjustment I have left.

If you can still get the GM number I would go with that, but it is 3 blocks to NAPA and 30 miles to the closest GM dealer for me.

Please see below.
