Steve, Your photo of the Crane CCKW inspired me to
call up the guy who has the one that I am buying and
advise him to not remove the crane as I decided to try
and get the whole thing. I had told him last week
that I would just take the truck and to go ahead and
cut the crane off. He is usually pretty quick with
the torch but fortunitly we have had cold and rainy
weather over the last week and he had decided to wait
before firing up his torch. I had made my decision to
try and save the whole truck last night and then
couldn't sleep half the night worring that he might
have already cut the crane off. But an early call this
morning confirmed that he had not. So I am going to
try and get the whole unit. It might be something that
I end up not restoring but figure if I don't someone
else might get the chance. I know that this one is
missing the motor in the crane and only the section of
the crane arm that you see in the photo is left.

In your research on this type of unit would you know
if there are anymore that have survived in the US? Do
any other MVPA members have a setup like this? Your is
an open cab and I note that this one is a closed cab.
Would this have been made special for the military?
thanks
