It odd you folk's mention the Radiant Paint. Mr. Seth Thomas IV Whom was a
Personal friend of mine often spoke of his great grand fathers clock factory
in Mass a chew it's and claimed the "clock face painters", which were mostly
ladies-would LICK the brushes and roll the paint onto their tongue. They
also painted other device faces such as Speedo's and pressure gauges for
other manufactures.
This action caused the brush to become "pointed" so that the numbers could
be painted easier. The Ladies apparently had several miscarriages and plenty
of birth defects were present within the community. Imagine That- the EPA
would have a field day with them today not to mention the Nuclear Regulatory
Commission!!! The orginal clock company was riddled with "claims" and closed
up shop. Mr. Thomas restored several "family heirlooms" during the 80 and
ended up with cancer himself.
