If you would check the various websites that discuss this phenomenon, by
Googling "419", you would be amazed at the total dollar amount that has (and
continues to be) sent to these shysters. A well-educated, urbane gent from
my town was just caught in their trap. He sold a sports car, received a
cashier's check for $5,000 more than the selling price, and sent the $5,000
difference via Western Union to an address in Ireland. He was shocked,
SHOCKED!, to find that his bank refused to honor the bogus check, even after
their having told him that it was OK.
