Biodiesel/glycerine as degreaser

Well, producing 20-30 gallons of biodiesel/week leaves me with a lot of
byproduct. Probably have 10 gallons of glycerine at this time. It's not
purified, it contains a residue of methanol and lye too.
The glycerine is a basic ingredient for soap making and is supposed to be a
powerful degreaser.

This morning I poured some of that brownish goo on the oily front axle of my
deuce, rubbed it in with a paper towel (gloves on). After a few minutes I
sprayed the area with water and like Gunk engine degreaser, it emulsified,
turned whitish and ran off leaving a clean surface behind.

This is great, it's probably biodegradable too! :-)

Gotto run,
