High Value Lost Property

In the UK there has been such a high incident rate of heavy expensive plant
theft in recent years that many UK companies are fitting GPS asset tracker
systems to their equipment. These systems can be triggered and set off
alarms for any number of conditions or unauthorised movements; many of them
will record track logs which is also useful for apprehending all those
involved in theft and other illegal activity.

My personal view is that we trust¿¿¿ our governments to look after the
valuable assets (including MVs) that they purchase using money that we have
donated (taxes) and they should be accountable for asset management. With
the facility of bulk purchasing it should be possible for most of their
equipment to be protected and accounted for by the use of GPS asset
trackers. This would ultimately save a great deal of grief and one hell of a
lot of $s too.

There are also paints that contain micro ID details so that, even if units
are parted, the valuable components can still be identified.
