Ahhh... BMV hell, I seem to be a lightning rod for those kinds of problems.

A possible solution to that verification thing that is done in Indiana a
lot is to write up a letter or note, or get a certification form from
the BMV to have a local police officer or Sheriff verify the VIN number
on your truck.

Then call the police department and have them visit you and your truck
to verify the number. They sign the form and put their id# and name and
title onthe form and you are set. That service costs $5.00 in Indiana
which is nothing compared with fuel these days.
