A chop saw is the way to go. Cuts through hardened steel - no big deal.

They are getting cheaper all of the time. $100 will buy one.

Once you get one you will wonder how you made it this far without one.

I recommend not using your miter saw to do that. Cutting steel and wood
on the same machine - not recommended.
