Not really unless you get real familiar with certain numbers. Each DOD
vendor has a "cage" code that identifies that company (like Snap-On is
55719) certain catagorys of supplies have NSN's that start with certain
numbers, like "tools, hand" typicaly start with 5120 and so on and so
forth...

I work in a Navy Tool Crib....Snap-On is my friend, the mechanics
appreciate good tools vs. the cheapo chinese crap they were getting
before I figured out which codes got the good stuff for the same price
as the junk. I was/am an Airframer by trade...biggest mistake they ever
made hireing a non supply type weenie to put in the tool room! <evil
laughter>

And Snap-On honors their return policy with broken tools (unless the
tool has been altered) So we're actually saving Uncle Sugar some money
in the long run.
