Tim,

Once you put your email into a public domain forum, it's out there. The
  original email address on this list 4-5 years ago gets a ton of spam -
30-40 per day. I stopped using that address specifically for that
reason. I think you need to consider email addresses used in a public
setting as throwaways. Either that or crank up your spam filter and
expect to lose some good emails once in a while in the spam filter.

Taking the existing emails off the archives is a waste of time. Your
email has already been captured by spammers.
