Was about the time we were adopting MAN trucks for their in the Ground
Launched Cruise Missile (GLCM) programs in Europe for the Army and Air
Force. Part of one of the SALT treaties had all the GLCM equipment
(missiles, trucks, trailers etc) destroyed under Soviet observation. Some of
the vehicles were destroyed upon delivery. This one might have snuck by
because it was state side, maybe with one of the sub contractors in one of
the GLCM programs like Boeing, Martin-Marietta, General Dynamics or
Raytheon.
