5 Bucks!!!!

Gawd! How does Indiana get away with this crap.

Something else crazy is that although you can buy trailer plates in
various weight classes like 7000, 14000, up to 50,000 or so, when you go
to a semi rig, the trailer plates have no weight rating. The tractor
plate weight rating must cover the entire rig.

But... since the Indiana law is pretty vague, commercial guys who haul
for instance big 10,000 lb travel trailers are required by most
companies to license their truck at or above the maximum gross combined
weight of the entire rig. So in Indiana you will sometimes see 1 ton
trucks with 20,000 lb plates. They do that to avoid getting crap in
other states. Go figure.

Does any of this make sense?

Tennessee, hmmmmm my wife has relatives there......
