The only tanks that I have driven were M48 and M60 variants up to and
including the M88. Getting a tank (or any large heavy tracked vehicle) is a
lot easier than one might thing.

I was assigned as the Bn Motor Sgt at the 1st Training Bg. Fort Knox in the
late 60's, and got my fill of extracting these big guys from ditches, mud
holes and forests. You have never been stuck until you get stuck in an M88
trying to recover an M60 from four feet of mud. On a slippery mud covered
road with a large crown, you can slide sideways into the ditch just by
leaning on one of these things, or so it seems.

For those who crave excitement, I suggest driving one of these 50+ ton
monsters down an iced road. Once you master level ground, try going up and
down a hill on an iced road. Can you say 52 ton toboggan?
