The service order was from the Army, to replace them with new ones. Even
converting to electric fuel pump and a total rebuild of the injection pump
it still had the pressure loss problem until I replaced the switch. Either
you have been lucky, or the military changed them like they were supposed to
over the years.

I have never understood this fuel pressure switch as having ANYTHING to do
with starting/running. It is only used if you hook up an STE-ICE test
instrument. Now IF it started leaking fuel, yes then it would cause problems

by leakdown. But again, after some 10+ years of running the CUCV 6.2's (over

a dozen trucks in total) I have yet to change pressure switch one. Boy, this

is my day for running up stream (or am I)!! Another HMV thread !! I am
beginning to wonder if these changes of the pressure switch are the repair
some have tried to eliminate fuel leakdown (leakback) where in reality they
should have followed the GM service bulletin (it suggests a different lift
pump and a more positive seating valve on top of the injection pump).
