Re: Gas Prices? Travel?

I was considering driving to El Paso, TX recently from Indiana but the
economics just didn't justify driving so I flew instead and stayed fewer
days. For me to drive my diesel Ford truck to Wyoming and back to visit
my sister-in-law is a little over $400 and that is at 18 mpg. I don't
think that is going to happen this year.

My M51 gasser gets 4-5 mpg, that's about 65 cents per mile just for
fuel. A short trip for me in the midwest to almost any event is at
least 100 miles one way or at least $130 round trip. That makes one
think twice.

When I bought the M51, gas was about $1.30 /gallon and dipped to
$1.00/gallon several times. Filling the tanks now costs about $280.00

I buy equipment periodically for my business and the cost to transport
is part of the buy equation. Too far, and it is not economical to buy
and move.

I'm taking a trip out to Iowa for a week and I'm dragging my travel
trailer along - saving on hotel to pay for the trip - and this is for my
business. If fuel prices go up and income does not - something has got
to give. So Holiday Inn loses and Exxon wins.
