Starter Saga III and counting

OK, for today's post we find an already bald Ed getting balder by the
minute! We checked power to all contacts at the new relay under the dash,
all leads check good as per the manual and the information that I got from
several great people from this list. The ground is ground, one wire is 24
VDC all the time, one wire is 24 VDC with the key turned to start and one
wire is 12 VDC with the key turned to start. We checked the large wire
going to the starter from the engine compartment buss bar and it reads 24
VDC from end to end all the time as it should. We tried running a wire from
the Bendix on the starter directly to the 24 VDC strip on the buss bar and
NOTHING happened!! No sound was heard, no movement was noted!! This is a
brand new Bendix that the shop that repaired our starter installed two days
ago! Could it be bad from the shop? They bench checked it and said that
all was well????

Anything that we missed? What should we try next? We are going to replace
the under dash relay with the heavy duty Ford relay Monday morning but since
we got nothing when running the wire directly from the Bendix to the 24 VDC
buss bar I don't see where that will help at this time??

Any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated as all the ideas that have been
forthcoming are! This is a GREAT list to be a member of and it has some
really fine people on it, people that I am in debt to as we speak! I only
hope that I can repay them sometime in the future!

Best Regards,

Ed
