Re: 900X20 TIRES

Actually, putting the slightly larger tires on the front of a sprag-equipped
truck will prevent the sprag from misbehaving. There are many old gassers
around me that have1100's on the fronts, and 900's on the rears. The trucks,
it must be emphasized, are only used by construction companies on loose
ground or sand. The larger tires compensate for the sprag
differential-sensing scheme, and prevent the sprag from operating
haphazardly.

up my vehicles i choose to be smart about where i engage my front wheel
drive , and i have with no problem to date, as long as the traction is
poor , i will do it, DO NOT do it with a sprg!!! Randy

The M35 was not fitted with 1100-20 tires, but several variants were.
The M44 chassis truck, the M47 dump, the V17A/MTQ telephone const/maint
truck and the V18A/MTQ (M764) earth boring truck all had single 1100's.
(1965 TM 9-2320-209-10)
If you run with different size tires on your vehicle (1100 in the front
and 900 in the rear), you can not engage all wheel drive without
expecting damage to the drive train as a result, there are no interaxle
diffs on these trucks.
