I am writing for specific information on M-37s. I found a '58 M-37 in pretty
darn good shape that they guy is willing to part with. It has about 16,000
original miles on it. It has all the original components, top bows and soft
top. It was used by a local fire department for about 18 years and sold to
the local rescue squad about 4 years back. It sat Inside a firehouse for all
of that time, so little to no rust. The rescue squad unfortunately painted
the truck white.
I test drove and it drove pretty darn good. Just had to choke it a little
more in the cold morning air until it warmed up. I am a little concerned
about the transfer case. When I shifted the truck into 4WD low and began to
accelerate the engine began to rev higher than the power going to the wheels.
It felt as though is was slipping. It did not do this in 4WD high or 2WD so I
don't suspect the clutch. Is this normal? What are other M-37s going for
these days in price? This guy wants $2500 for it. Do you think this is
reasonable based on the info provided? Please advise. Thank you in advance.
