Hello all,
Recently picked up a 1969 M715 in great original condition. Original 230
engine has 33,000 miles on it. Have one problem with it and am having a hard
time figuring out the problem. Vehicle will not run in rainy or damp
weather. Won't idle on initial startup. Having a large stash of NOS parts I
replaced the plug wires, and plugs, the entire distributor and coil assembly,
even installed a new carburetor(old one had problems). Runs great in the dry
weather and even in the freezing temps. as long as there is no rain or snow.
Figured the problem was with the distributor getting moisture, but checked
and changed everything. Fuel mixture is correct, valves are adjusted
properly, and all seems to be in great shape. The motor is mechanically
sound. Any suggestions? Anybody ever have this sort of problem before?
Never had any problems like this before on any vehicles we had in the shop,
from early MB's to late model Jeeps. This one has got us all stumped, so any
help is appreciated, no matter how small, or crazy the idea. Thanks for any
input.
