Hummer legal problems?

Ok, this is my first attempt at this so if I get the wrong place...I'm sorry.

I have been following this discussion about the probs the feds have with the hummers and something smells funny. It has been mentioned that they do not like them because they do not have a "park" position in the trans. Who is the idiot that made that one up. I am a Heavy Duty Mechanic but anyone in the trucking industry can tell you that the heavy duty Alison automatic transmissions used on large trucks/buses/etc DO NOT HAVE A PARK POSITION. There are millions of these running all over the place and noone has a problem with that. They have a device known as a PARK BRAKE, perhaps the feds should look in their vehicle manuals for such a thing.
They lack of side impact protection is valid, however, I would prefer to take a broadside hit in a Hummer than in an Escort, just my opinion you see.

Just wondering what is going on with this, but be warned, once something becomes law, it is very hard to get rid of it. Band together and dont let some foolish people rob you of your hobby. Once they get started, who knows where they will stop.

Thanks for the opportunity to voice my thoughts.
