I was stripping the hood of my 53 M38A1 and found a strange marking. It is
on the front, left, top-side of the hood. I had sanded down to the original
paint, through several layers of civilian and 2 layers of USMC green when I
found it. I appears to be flat yellow, sprayed on and somewhat stenciled
looking. It is a 2-3, at a little bit of an angle. I had initially thought
that it may have been placed on at the factory, to designate what unit it
was being sent to, i.e. 2nd Division, 3rd Battalion. Maybe it is a DRMO
marking. If there is any insight to this, please let me know.

Thanks,
Sean ('53 M38A1, '51 M135)
