No reflection on these guys but I know of at least one privately owned
"musuem" who "acquires" their vehicles in this manner... they find out
who owns it, remind the proper government agencies that is was "on loan"
to that defunct VFW (or whatever), then submit paperwork to the
government to acquire the item. A few phone calls and slick paperwork and
BINGO, you're out the vehicle and your cash. Again, no reflection on Earl
or his group but there are owner/operator "museum status" guys out there.
Of course I'd imagine this method is a bit risky to "personal limb
distortion."

So as I said before, be sure to get a bill of sale, not just "sold to...
