Dear Angus:

Nice to hear from you. Yes, I am a fan of the M151A2. It is a very
solid and capable jeep well suited for modern highways as well as
rugged off road. It has turn signals and higher gears so you
can travel a lot more freely than with older MVs. I never had a
rollover problem with an A2.

For info the advice is always the same:

1. Source of all documentation:

Portrayal Press,
P.O. Box 1190-98,
Andover, NJ 07821
(Shop manuals, military books, videos -- send for catalolg)

These are high quality reprints and include many otherwise unavailable
manuals, lube orders, etc.

2. Magazines:

The best magazine is "Military Vehicles" (or MV) published by SBI Inc., 12
Indian Head Road, Morristown NJ 07960. email to: MVehicle@aol.com
Full of ads, stories etc. Most parts dealers advertise there.

"Supply Line" is a publication of the MVPA (see below) which is also good.

3. Parts.

There are many, many sources of M151 parts since it was phased out of use
fairly recently.

One excellent source of parts for M151 series is TW Murray in Dover DE.
Called Mid-Atlantic Trading Co. in the US. Talk to Don Sullivan,
Parts Manager. Murray number is 302 736 1790 or send email to
murco@dmv.com. They have a huge stockpile -- there was an
article about them in a recent MV magazine.

There are other good dealers with M151 parts -- supply of most parts,
manuals etc. is quite good right now. No one dealer has
everything.

4. Join the MVPA.

The Military Vehicle Preservation Assn. is an international group dedicated
to mil veh collection, restoration etc. Well worth joining and
supporting despite some political issues which come up. They
have a good web site at www.mvpa.org which gives all info. There
are also local chapters which can be fun if one is near you.

The MVPA also has a book club page on their web site with lots of
references:
Also check their web page for links to lots of other sources.

Finally, the mil-veh group is a very solid connection to the world of
collectors, dealers, and just plain fun folks who like these vehicles.
Stay on the list and ask any questions you have.

Good luck,
chuck

Hello, Chuck,

I was looking through usenet msg and found your exchange re m151a2 last
fall w/Dan. Your generous reply to him suggests to me that you might be
willing to steer a stranger to sources of info re mv. I'm interested in
getting an 'a2, but I have no idea where to go for info--listserv, mags,
clubs, what have you...

Would you mind pointing me?

Thanks _very_ much!

Sincerely,

Angus mac Lir
