Mark,
This is the "matching unit" for the AS-1729 antenna
assy. currently in use with the various radio systems that
our military operates. Are there any cables along with the
MX-6707, or any antenna elements (which screw onto the
threaded top portion)?
I used to install these all of the time on all sorts of
vehicles. For starters, on the bottom of the unit there is a
small Phillips-head screw. Unscrew this, tilt it over so that
it's on the bottom corner, and see if any water comes out.
If it's dry, this is a good sign that it may still work. The
multi-pin plug on the bottom is where the cable attaches
that electronically tells the unit which frequency to tune
itself to. Also on the bottom should be a rotary-knob, with
various frequencies noted at different positions, depending
on how the knob is adjusted. (This is to manually "match"
the frequency if the cable is bad, or the unit is not
electronically matching it.)
What was it mounted on? Or if loose, how was it
obtained? I might be interested, even though I don't have a
vehicle for it, just to have it on hand. However, with the
distance and all, and not being able to test it, I don't know.
I've seen them going for quite a range of prices, but this was
also with additional accessories.
